Rule 02 of the reserve policy is scarcity: a set has to be retired, or have a published retirement date, before any fee money goes near it. 42096 clears that rule, and like every box it would be bought factory-sealed and never opened.

Brickset lists Launch/Exit as 01 Jan 19 - 31 Dec 24 (retired); BrickEconomy states it retired January 2025 and LEGO.com marks the product page 'Retired Product' (also showing a discounted clearance price of $143.99 against the $179.99 RRP). Checked 12 Sept 2026.
